How would you feel if they created more low income housing in your neighborhood?

There's some about a mile away and the teens will walk around at night trying to get into vehicles here in my area and they'll steal anything they think they can sell to someone, including handicap tags. Have found two good flashlights in my driveway next to the car.

@laserfocus that's interesting isn't it? Did they catch whoever it was that set it on fire?

@laserfocus What happens is what my uncle had said back in the early 70's would happen. They build so many apartment complexes and they'll end up being low-income eventually and turn into slums. Some of them anyway. Took about 25 years but that's what happened with a few that had a lot of Section 8 tenants, gang-graffiti and related crimes.
GivingUpGhosts · 26-30, F
Personally, I wouldn't mind it. I live alone and work 48+ hours a week yet it is still a struggle to keep up with all the bills. The only concern I'd have would be the heightened possibility of theft or other crimes. Unfortunately, low-income areas attract criminals.

I would imagine locals would be angry, since zoning laws would have to change.
They were angry when they reduced property sizes to 1/4 acre.
Used to be 2.5 acres, then 1, now .25.

I wouldn't like that at all. Our property values would go down and crime would increase.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@TheProphet How so?
TheProphet · M
@NankerPhelge Low income housing has a much lower value than the $300,000 plus values of homes in my neighborhood. It would hurt resale values. Low income housing attracts criminals an druggies. There are good reasons home owners don't want low income renters in our neighborhoods and towns.
I don't have it close to me and we have a lot of homeowners here so I don't expect to see that around here
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
That would be a good thing.

large apartment buildings yeah more roaches and cig butts to find during my Foraging Journeys
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@FurryFace They are starting to build high-density apartment complexes here. Really crowded together with no green space between the units and have a parking garage in them or businesses on the ground floor. The city is going to eventually run out of space to build anything new and now they are approving high-density where it used to be not approved.
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
we have that.

but.... bribes control our city gov. and now they're chasing out the working class and putting in condos like WTF can afford that.

so far we've got pampered trust fund brats choking the city up who do nothing and there's tons of 'white wash franchise' happening with a lot of empty store fronts.

oh! talk about 'progress' heh.

i miss the culture and i miss the community.

@laserfocus this is the sprawl from northern VA to south east D.C.

vienna, in northern VA, much of arlington VA, you name it. look on the map!

if there's any before and afters.. it's an amazing nightmare.

and ballston VA is going through yet another "revision" i'm not sure where that is going to take us.
