Don't even try to make sense of the English langue. Why is a building called a building if it's already built? Why is a ceiling called a ceiling if it's already sealed? Why are strawberries called berries if they're not even berries? Why are most sticks not sticky and things that are sticky are usually not sticks?

English doesn't make sense so I won't explain. It is what it is and that's that.
