Why does a customer need to see my face and know my name?

The place I work at just became a drive thru and on our drive thru screen there is an option to turn on a camera so the customer can see me when I take their order. Plus my boss wants us to include our names when we welcome people. Ha ha no that camera is off when my boss isn't there. It's unnecessary and creepy.

why is it creepy?

@nonsensiclesnail It's creepy because I wouldn't want to drive up someplace and see someone's face staring at me on a speaker talking to me. I'm fine with just a voice and seeing the person at the window or seeing them by coming inside. I can also see the customer too on a small camera on the computer and even that's sort of weird. Feels like I'm spying on them almost.
@KyleTron5000 I suppose, though, I must admit I keep the center console of my car much cleaner now that the baristas at Starbucks can see inside. They are judging me for my pile of receipts and empty water bottles aren't they.

@nonsensiclesnail That's exactly where I work. The whole thing is just weird.
@KyleTron5000 It is awkward on the days I don't want to talk to anyone, go anywhere or be seen...but want a London Fog....and I'm out of tea. This is a common occurrence. I have grown used to it though. I have found that the ones around me, most of them don't use the camera anymore.

@nonsensiclesnail Yeah the store I trained at for drive thru training didn't use it. If I'm the shift on duty that day I am not turning it on. London Fogs are so good on a side note.
