At what age did you start to read?

I started school at the age of three. I think by four I had the ability to read French and Arabic but not understand much. I understood Tamazight though.

I remember having to climb the closet when my father was away to check out the arabic books he hid. They had exquisite poems. And I remember years later when soldiers gathered them in a pile and burnt them because they were stupid enough to think they had political content.
