What is the longest you've ever lived in a tent or the woods or a makeshift shelter?

The only camping I did was in the service because we had to stay in the field sometimes. I don't ever want to see the inside of a tent again. I'll stay on the Beach under the Open Sky and that's it

I have never done that...the one time my father took us camping he was manic episode and it was in December on a school night with snow on the ground, it was in a farmer's field (didn't have permission) away from the road and farm house, not even a real tent but a piece of canvas he made a lean-to with, "slept" on the damn frozen ground shivering all night long with him sitting in front of a camp fire and had to get up and go to school the next morning. I have never been tent-camping probably as a result of that one experience.

@FurryFace a little vigilantism going on there.
FurryFace · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti ha ha justice to some degree , reminds of the old Charles Bronson Death Wish series

@FurryFace people get fed up and deserve some rest in their home, this is what happens when people aren't respectful and the law or management doesn't do their part in controlling it. We have noise ordinances here because of the frats and party houses (underage frat members will pool money and rent out apartments and use it for members to have parties any time they feel like it, (they can't do that at their frat houses or the fraternity may get kicked off campus) worked with a guy who lived next to one)...if a noise control officer or police officer drives down the street and hears noise from their car at night then they go give a warning, if they don't comply or have been previously warned then they get stuck with a fat fine. Three-strikes and the management can kick them out.

SweetMae · 70-79, F

FurryFace · 61-69, M

SweetMae · 70-79, F
@FurryFace It is a very nice retreat.
FurryFace · 61-69, M

Jibby · 56-60, C

We've only gone camping in a tent three nights in a row, it's not easy with babies and little kids. But when we are empty nesters we want to try out the van living lifestyle for a while and travel.
Jibby · 56-60, C
@getmeouttahere yeah I could never latch onto camping.. I was more a hotel and a phone to order by type of guy when I wanted to rough it. Seriously though I've slept on a blanket at the beach many times. It has to be Breezy though because of mosquitoes. But they don't fly in wind or over 12 ft High
FurryFace · 61-69, M
Tent by the river 6 months through the summer , sister kicked me out
Jibby · 56-60, C
@FurryFace yes any longer than that and you would have qualified as a Unabomber type. You almost got it kid try harder next time you get kicked out
FurryFace · 61-69, M
@Jibby can't camp by the river no more , its against the law to have a camp fire there now
Jibby · 56-60, C
So they don't want a human being sleeping there but fires okay by them. .. so now the woods around the lake burns down because there were no human staying there to put it out@FurryFace
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
2 weeks I think.
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
@Jibby Ah, a tent. And I forgot to bring a pillow, so had to make due with extra pants folded over the top of my boots. XD
Jibby · 56-60, C
@Xuan12 I learned how to deal with the pillows situation. What you do is you realize you have two weeks... So the second day your break up the monotony by going back to a store and going back up
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
@Jibby Hehe, not always so easy on assignment.
Probably close to two weeks.
Jibby · 56-60, C
@ProdigalSummer well that answers how long but not exactly the shelter
@Jibby tent and under the stars on nice nights. It would have been with my family as a kid.
Deadcutie · 18-21, F
