What did you dream about last night?

I slept long and deeply. Had dreams of a journey to New York City. I was traveling to meet with publishers. I took a train, ate at a rooftop cafe and slept there in my seat. I could see the city in the distance, down a steep embankment. Finally arrived, but I was in the future, where artificial consciousness had replaced mankind. I was this relic walking around. All the shops were closed, preserved, like museum exhibits.

I don't remember my dreams.

Up side I've never had a nightmare or at least not one I can remember.

@Elegy Both of those are hard to imagine. I lucid and semi lucid dream, but it's been a long while. In a lucid dream, I have full editing controls. I've stood on the surface of a roiling sea, pulling lightning out of the sky, each making the most amazing musical tones. I built a tower into the sky, into space, lower levels crumbling away as I added new ones.

In a semi lucid dream, the dream events occur around my avatar, which lies still, breathing evenly. None of the events are able to affect me.

@DanielChristensen I'm familiar with lucid dreams, I'm jelly, bro.

@Elegy I had a period where I was having lots, then massive long dry spells. I wonder what was up during that time. Maybe something chemically in my brain was sorting itself. There are a lot of theories about bipolar disorder, but misfiring brain chemistry seems a likely cause to me, if only one among others.

@DanielChristensen Could also have been stress or tension. When not dealt with appropriately they can make themselves known in odd places.
