Why do people even care if others smoke?

Now I'm asthmatic I'm surprisingly sensitive to even a whiff

Because it's surprisingly smelly. I only noticed that recently.

It stinks, and affects those around you, as well as being a slow suicide.

Fuck em ! Sorry but no other group of people is so ostracized by society as smokers.
Not the alcoholics.
Not the drunk drivers.
Not the racists or the child abusers.
But for some reason it seems that it's ok to tell smokers where they can go and what they can do, where they can do it, charge them stupid prices for it too!
The day they tell the truth about what driving cars using gasoline does to folk waiting at bus stops; the day they suddenly realize guns might actually be hazardous to the innocent so maybe they should stop selling them; the day alcohol has the same tax band as a packet of cigarettes, THEN i'll quit !

I only care when my TAXES are used when these people are dying in hospital taking up bed space for someone that needs an operation

It smells horrible if you are near me. Also, kind of odd watching someone knowingly increase their risk for cancer.

The smell, the carcinogens, the lack of respect just for starters

you're a damn criminal these days if you smoke ...I come from a time when people smoked on planes, sitting on a persons bed in the hospital during visiting hours, on elevators....I never judge because I smoked for decades...I don't anymore but I don't want to be around anyone who does

Well people do not want to smell the smoke and see the cigarette butt on the streets or other places.
