Isn't one or the other enough? I mean a person who was a sadist would get pleasure from tormenting a victim.Equally a psychopath would presumably do so in some way but both seems overkill.

Social scientists still use the scientific method to undertake research. But let's face it, even "hard" sciences like physics is full of disention, disagrerment. However, what you say as part of your question seems 100% accurate to me
