Why are the British so intrigued by the US??

BBC alone showcases programes relating to Trump, Alaska, OJ Simpson, gun crime in America etc. Channel 4 and ITV plays loads of American sitcoms.
For a country seeped in history and culture I would think you would find other avenues for entertainment?? 🤔

Because the US is a soap opera/freak show. Our president is a joke, and train wreck in himself. We're a bunch of fat, entitled, lazy idiots who care more about sports and food than humanity. It's like a bad car accident. You want to look away but can't.

@AnarchoMetalchic I hear ya! 😉

@IstillmissEP There are actually five different flags on the moon. The nations of the United States, The Soviet Union, Japan, China, and India. There is also a flag representing the European Space Agency 🙂

It's a pity that everything, in my house, is manufactured in China. But, we are working on that, right? 😉

The BBC have programmes on many places, not just the US, and on many other subjects

@squidgy OK, but can't do it right now. With iPlayer you can see programmes already shown.

@SW-User IPlayer is ace! It's all I watch ☺ I cannot stand watching American television. The laugh tracks 😒

@Flipflopgal I think the UK makes much better programes and music. You do not "dumb down" your audience.

Being steeped in history is dull dull dull. As ditchwater! Cowboys and Las Vegas livens up the tedium.

As a Canadian growing up near the border, we were exposed to American culture.
What I could not understand, was that it was ok to show violent programs, but not sexuality.
squidgy · 36-40, F
@chrisCA I know! It boggles the mind 🤓
