On a site like this, isn't it kinda suspicious when a person wants to know your name right from the start?

No. Why would it be? I always introduce myself here just like I would if I met you in person. Hello. I'm David from Illinois. Polite people would answer.

Do you realize all you need is a first name and town you live in to be able to find out their last name and where they live?

@Motleycrue667 Telling someone your first name and the State you live in is harmless. Even if you told them your last name and town no one is going to come stalking you. It's just how you make friends.

@TheProphet well you would be surprised how much a person can find out by first name and city. They can go from there

@Motleycrue667 I guess we wouldn't be friends then if you wouldn't even tell me your name.

Well if we met through other means like outside the internet and wanted to be real friends then that's different

@Motleycrue667 I consider the people I friend here to be real friends. I've traveled to meet some of them and talked to others by phone.

@TheProphet well for a single woman it's not safe. If I met someone on here that started out actually talking and starting an interesting conversation then a few messages later they asked my name that's fine. I've been on this site and dating sites enough to know it's suspicious when a guy randomly messages you and all they want to know is your name and nothing else. It's weird

@Motleycrue667 I can see your point. I often PM people, mostly women, to chat. I always introduce myself just as I would in real life.
