I dunno about permission, per se. if I feel like I've got something to tell someone that fits better in a personal message, I'd probably do it. but in general I don't really pm/dm with anyone. and nobody really does with me (at least not for long. on occasion, I'll get some rando but even that's really rare).

so I guess my overall feeling is permission is definitely a good thing, but not a hard requirement. esp if it's something you feel needs more urgent attention (hey. did you really mean to post what seems to be your tag number at http://similarworlds/something.blah?)

I don't understand. On here you just message someone. If they reply then you can continue conversation. But you don't have to get permission for the first message to be sent.

I think it's a pretty good system. One message, no images. And if I don't reply, that person can never write me again.

i don't tend to DM anyone first. it's incredibly rare, but i usually like it if they ask. it feels better than someone just kind of pretending they have one random question or something and then manipulating the question into trapping me in my DMs or some shit.

i can admit i ignore about 98% of dms bc they're weird (not in the fun or good way) or simply because they lack personality. But if someone just wants to have a chat, that's cool. i'm not gonna bite or kill them for it. 🤷🏿
