Move Post to Group ๐Ÿš€ New Edit options ๐Ÿ—ž๏ธโœ๏ธ

๐Ÿ๐Ÿช Hi Similar Worlds ๐ŸŽฒ๐Ÿ™

Following the recent updates, and as we continue to consolidate the groups, we've made a few improvements. ๐Ÿ‘

Improved Edit Post options ๐Ÿ“

We used to have separate "Edit" buttons - one for changing the Title of the Post, and another to edit the Body of the Post.
And if you wanted to edit the Type/Mood of the post, you had to first press to "Edit" the Body, and only then you could see the "Edit Post Type" button, almost hidden.

To simplify that, now there is only one Edit button, which is located at the top-right corner of the post:

Which opens the following 3 options:

- Edit Post
Edit the title, the body and the rating level of the post.
- Edit Post Type
Change the post type/mood of the post.
- Move to Group
Move this post to another Group or Category.

Move Post to Group ๐Ÿ›ธ

To help you with fixing mistakes and to better categorize your posts, we are now allowing users to move Posts to other Groups/Categories.

If you press Edit located on the top-right corner of the Post, you can select the option "Move to Group", which will present you with the following screen:

Please note that it's possible to edit the Post Type and Group/Category only once per post.

Moving a post to another Group/Category does NOT bring the post to the top of the Feed.

Thank you for your support and we hope you continue to stay with us.

We are constantly listening to your suggestions, so please keep giving them to us, as they are very important to the future of Similar Worlds.

Very kind regards, ๐Ÿงก

Hi Nuno...

Thank you very much for your effort.....

But I have to say what I need to say to you...

I really, really dont understand the purpose of all this...

Thank you again for all the effort, but One thing that I really cant appreciate is the inability / carelessness of the admin in seeing how unhappy most of us we have become with all thses changes...

1. Isn't our feedback important to you??

2. I know this place is not EP, but what's wrong with using their best practices that made users happy, practices such as allowing them to create their own group...

After all, this place is for sharing OUR experiences and similarities ..... we would like to title it as IT MATCES OUR EXPERIENCE THE BEST

3. What you have done has limited us in sharing what we have to say and has made us less interested in posting our stories...

what's the use of going through 3 different steps to make a group and for information, sometimes I cant find any similarities in any of those steps that can match my story....

4. It is ok to accept that this was a bad idea and it will be ok if you make the "group" chosing a more userfriendly feature... we would really really appreciate you even more if you change your mind about all this...

5. Why not ask your users to participate in voting about this ... it will provide you with a feedback from your users, result of which can help you to make better changes...

Thank you... for everything...๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—

There have been various discussion threads on this going back years, and the overwhelming majority liked a more structured categorization over millions of sentences riddled with language mistakes and duplicates. Some more choice would be great indeed, but I honestly don't understand why people are against the whole system after encouraging years of work.

@NerdyPotato Because many didn't understand the full extent of what the admins intended to do with such a system. Besides, it is a divisive issues, while many like it there are also many who don't. A lot of critisism (even constructive ones) drowned out in the "thank you's" in such threads or have straight up been ignored.

Imagine a scale where one end is extreme freedom and the other is extreme categorization. What many people wanted was something that veered towards categorization while still retaining a fair lot of those old freedoms (or freedoms that were suggested to come in the future that are now permanently canned). What we got is a system that hovers a far lot more towards extreme categorization.

@Soossie Thank you for your feedback, and thanks for being nice about it. ๐Ÿ˜Š
We are definitely listening to user feedback, and discussing every day between us every single point users are making. We will continue to accommodate as we read your points. It is 100% our intention to allow users to at least give suggestions of Groups to create, but we don't want to do it in a way that ends up totally out of control like the Groups we imported from EP.
We are also discussing something else that would be close to creating your own groups, but I don't want to disclose much for now.

@Nuno Ok, a little point I was gonna make in my other reply, but I'll throw it here then. People have long wanted new groups, you say it gets out of control. You could have resolved that aspect of it with minimal restructuring.

You already have allotments for a lot of other stuff, so you could have implemented a limit on new groups created per member within a timeframe. I.e., each member can only create two groups per month (or whatever you consider a reasonable amount). This means that there is a limited amount of new groups that needs to be verified/curated/whatever-you-want-to-call-it.

Add a "report duplicate" button on groups where a user can then suggest groups that are duplicates. If this is considered valid then groups will be merged. If not, they're allowed to peacefully co-exist. Like obviously "I Love Dogs" and "I Hate Dogs" are not the same things.

There you go, group creation that doesn't completely go off the rails. It'll obviously see heavy usage the first weeks (although still only two per user), but would likely stabilize after that.
@Nuno

Thank you dear Nuno.... for listening and for trying to understand

In another post I suggested that if there will be some kind of a mandate / framework / regulations /... by SW Admin for creating our own group, users can always create a title/group for their stories within those limits and to everyones satisfactory.... other users can also join..

Thank you again dear Nuno. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

@Soossie We may be posting soon about what do we plan to do next, which should be something most will like ๐Ÿ‘
Thank you for your feedback.

@Soossie well expressed!
@PirateMonkeyCabinet Well thought through ... excellent ideas ... nobody adds more than 2 groups a month(to your point) ... but everybody adds at least 1 unique to themselves (also to your point)

@Soossie Very well said, Soossie. :)

I can understand merging groups like "I wear hats," "Who wears hats?," and "Hats are what I like to wear," for example, as they represent the same tenant of thought and doing so may actually expand the base for people to discuss wearing their hats. However, categorizing it in a drop down menu system does not hold true to the organic model that was EP, where people could post similar groups, but different enough with experiences. Sure, there were overlaps, but merging those groups of the same thought would be fine, without categorizing the entire site in a drop down menu to suit people who are not grown up enough to ignore that in which they are disinterested in the main feed. There were many topics I did not like, or want to participate in that group or thread, but I just moved on without clicking on them, and my sensibilities were not aflutter.

This is the problem with responding to one contingent and modifying the structure of a format like EP that came over to this site, where once you start, you create issues with different groups; whereas when it's moderated for illegal content, and flame wars, for example, you can legitimately tell people that they can click on what they like or do not like, and ignore the rest. Categorizing and moderating adds another layer of bureaucracy, and I saw someone post that they got a warning for mis-posting during the transition, which alienates people who don't follow the new logic, and disincentives people from wanting to contribute in the first place. I probably don't contribute enough to warrant a voice, but I see the frustration and the pitfalls in trying to be like every other site.
@toddr13

Thank you.... I still think that a mandate and limitation in number of groups created by each person can do some help..
