Most scientists say that the Earth is 6000 years old...Can this be true? Well, if this is the case why is the year '2024' surely that would mean that

the Earth is only 2024 years old.

What happened to the other 4000 years?

Call me a sceptical old Creation Scientist but doesn't it seem that someone is hiding something from us?

To be fair everything is hypothetical and theory.
redredred · M
@exchrist like circuit theory? Or germ theory? “Theory” is the highest level of proof in science. Einstein’s theories corrected Newton’s Laws of Motion.

@redredred theory is hypothetical until hard data is recorded to prove or refute.

With evidence and observation correlation might exist.
exchrist · 31-35
@redredred further data hones observation to confirm or refute yes. Repeatition is science.

@exchrist you’re wrong and that’s not conjecture. You’ve confused “hypothesis” with “theory”. Theories are rigorously tested and discarded if they fail even one test once.

@exchrist I won’t waste any more time explaining the obvious to the oblivious.
exchrist · 31-35
@redredred hypthesis is the beginning of theory. Theories are formed after hypothesis are tested/implemented
exchrist · 31-35
@redredred theory and hypothesis are synonyms.

@exchrist That fellow is more to be pitied than scolded old chap.

@redredred what got you all pissed off theory is a hypothesis that has at least some testing. A hypothesis proven right becomes theory. Even a hypothesis disproven leads to a theoretical relationship (hypothetical) between variables.
