Past literature, 'is this a badger I see before me'? Of course this comes from one of the works of Henry Shakespeare

which was called McDeath (creepy) but was better known as 'the Scottish Play' because actors were very suspicious of the name and thought it brought bad luck.

Of course, we know Shakespeare wrote his great works in his home in Strafford Upon Steven around about 1905 and were seen as great works of literature.

How do the books of today measure up?

Sadly, apart from such great books as Dave Cameron's Memoirs and Matt Hancock's superb account of how he confronted and overcame the ravages of Covid single-handed, very little measures up.

(That Shakespeer actually wrote the plays now attributed to him is of course disputed and the theory that they were in fact the works of Boris Johnson continues to gain ground)
