What are collections?

Sometimes I see references to collection in peoples posts. Is it a way to sort posts, like groups or forums? And while I’m here, are groups and forums the same thing?

I’m not here very often so all this confusing.

Even posting this question is confusing- I have choose from a list and none of the are relevant? The help section is useless

Collections are a way to group similar posts in one spot. I have an example on my page though be warned: nudity.

@Longpatrol Thanks, I sort of get it. Your profile says you have about 10000 posts so I could scroll down and see all of them but if I click on the box at the top I only see the 59 that you put in there … is that how it works?

But sometimes I see a profile that only shows their collections, not all the other posts.
@SW-User That will be the number of posts under the collection. If he has 10000 posts, and only 59 exist in that collection, it's just 59 out of the 10000 he's selected to put there, they all should be under his profile, too.

That all makes sense. But a couple of times I looked at a profile that said it had, say 10000 posts and two collections with 20 posts each, but all I could see were the posts in the collections not the others, yet my friend could see all the posts but not the collections. Is that weird? Maybe there’s a setting I don’t know about - SW gets complicated sometimes.
@SW-User I don't know. Yeah, it gets complicated, stupidly so. I know this has been noted before, I have nudity/fetish turned off in preference for now, but if I search upon a topic, those show up. They won't show up in the feed, though. My guess, poor implementation in design?

@thewindupbirdchronicles Don't bother asking about design, it's all over the place. I have no clue what the ultimate aim of the admins is but right now it's a mishmash of different features
