There is a theory they're more intelligent than other snakes and can also perceive things in us humans. Inspired by another post here by @TheLordOfHell
I had to google some stuff. Apparently snakes have been around for 128 million years, so they have aaaaalmost seen it all. I'd say they know more about us, the homo sapiens species, than we do about them. Them and their snakey secrets that they refuse to share
