Funny how all the usual conservative conspiracy theorist types think it was staged.

You guys realize that stuff actually happens sometimes, right? Like not everything is part of a scripted conspiracy. I thought you hated Hollywood douchebags. This is totally something an egomaniac actor like Will Smith would do.

@SW-User you know, I have a feeling that covid vaccine microchip instructed him to slap Chris...
SW-User
@deadgerbil Yeah, yeah, I know, "end times", "new world order", "microchips", "liberal fascists"...talk about scripted. 😂

@SW-User You're point that nobody knows if it is scripted or not is fair, the rest of your comments reveals your indoctrination and bias.

What makes you so certain the moment was totally organic? Because Will Smith is an "egomaniac"? Show me a Hollywood star who isn't.

@SumKindaMunster I’m not certain. I never said I was certain. Only Smith and Chris know for sure. However, I do think it was organic. It also is a pretty anti-comedian thing to do. And in the age of “jokes are weapons” I’m not surprised to see someone like Smith react that way.

And that’s precisely the point. All Hollywood stars are driven by ego. This kind of behavior is exactly fitting with someone who’s ego takes precedence. Like Kanye’s Taylor Swift moment.

@SW-User Ok, well I didn't appreciate you're stereotyping nor your condescending comments about people who don't share your political worldview.

As already stated, at this point, nobody knows if it is scripted or not.

I will say that I remain skeptical that it was organic for the following reasons:

It wasn't that bad of a joke. Jada Pinkett Smith has been open about her Alopecia and while insensitive, this is the type of joke someone like Chris Rock is going to deliver. If he really was going for the jugular, he could have easily made jokes about the Smith's involvement with Scientology, the ongoing rumors about Jada Pinkett Smith's infidelity, and the strange actions of their 2 children. THAT would have been slap worthy...

Security, nor any other workers did not react to Smith striding up onto stage with purpose and striking the host.

Chris Rock is not pursuing charges or legal action.

The massive reaction to this event. That, more than anything leads me to believe this was staged. The Oscars have been losing viewers and last year's telecast was especially embarrassing and tone deaf. A situation like this makes the Oscars relevant again and wipes away the embarrassment of last year's attendees not wearing masks while the staff and workers were forced to.

@SumKindaMunster Well, I didn’t appreciate users saying that anyone who doesn’t believe it’s staged is a “dumbass” and implying that we’re all mindless sheep who can’t think, just for having an alternative assessment. I wouldn’t have said what I said if I hadn’t seen several posts like that.

For one thing, Rock has made jokes about Jada and Will Smith’s family before and the fact that he yelled to stop making these kinds of jokes after he returned to his seat hints that this could’ve been a tipping point for him. The fact that the Academy has come out with their usual wishy-washy answers leads me to believe it was organic too as this is how they always respond to everything.

Yes, the Oscars certainly could use publicity. They are increasingly irrelevant and they know it. But it remains a theory.

Well why didn't you just reply to that person as I did to you? I only saw one person make that comment.

Sure, perhaps Rock should have listened. But isn't that the whole point of him hosting this show? To make jokes about Hollywood elite to show they are just like us and can have fun and joke around just like regular people...oops. It's why I think it was staged, felt like this is exactly how a staged event would play out.

Agreed. It came across as toothless and something that should be obvious and not need to be stated... We condemn violence in any form...yeah as do we all,

@SW-User exactly. These people need new hobbies and to read up on Occam's Razor.
