Some people aren't bigots but just dumb okay?

I wouldn't necessarily say dumb -- just don't know any better, or are not self-aware of the stuff coming out of their mouth. My father used to say racial things, tell racial jokes, because that was common when he was growing up. Yet I never saw him discriminate against anyone, and he associated with and helped people regardless of color or socio-economic status. He never saw a connection between the two, but he wasn't dumb by any means. And like they say, kids learn from their parents' actions far more than their words.
