Nothing wrong with that. I say ma’am/sir a ton during a conversation without even noticing it and the thank you’s flow just as much. Think politeness, even if it’s a bit too much, is appreciated way more than frowned upon. It’s the thought behind it and to me that means a ton.

@SW-User I gotcha. Rarely hear those down here, except for love. I use that term numerous times on a daily basis and one of my favorite cashiers uses it to address me when I stroll into the grocery store. It’s a good one.
