Dinner Disaster

I went to visit a long time friend. It was a long drive for me, two and a half hours. Days before I went on my trip, I talked to my friend's niece and caretaker. I told her I would cook a dinner (something I knew my long time friend would like) and bring it. I asked her if a pot roast would be OK and she enthusiastically said it would be fine.

The dinner was a disaster. I had frozen the pot roast and she thawed it out in her microwave and heated it up. She served me and my friend but didn't serve any for herself or my friend's sister. She casually explained that she and her whole family were vegans. Obviously, if I'd known that, I would've cooked something more appropriate.

As for my friend, he was unable to chew the meat due to his teeth having gone bad during this last year. He spit the meat out on the table. He could eat the veggies and gravy though.

But, in general, my carefully cooked meal was a disaster.

And she probably thought she was being courteous by not mentioning obvious dietary limitations. Misplaced manners. 馃ぅ

@dancingtongue I think you're right. She was very enthusiastic when I mentioned bringing dinner.
