Having found survival in the kindness of complete strangers prior....I tip well.

Nimbus · M
Exactly what is this 'tip' you speak of?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Nimbus oh didn’t know it was expected there in restaurants.
Nimbus · M
@cherokeepatti Yes and then it is optional as many people don't.
@cherokeepatti Patti is the hourly wage for food workers about $3 an hour?
hunkalove · 61-69, M
At least 20%. I was a waiter for many years. But I rarely eat in restaurants, it's been 2 years, and I never have food delivered.
SW-User
@hunkalove 20% is very generous.
I tip equally usually $3 because that's a gallon of gas,

but sometimes when they go beyond the call of duty like alert me 10 minutes before they arrive I give them $5
In restaurants about the same, $3 or $5 ...
depends on the service
Viper · M
15-20% on a sit down meal. I rarely do delivery as I can just go pick it up, I like driving, but if I do delivery then yes tip them $5.

Of course this is assuming in America, which this is standard.

In other places, the culture isn't set up for tips as they actually have to pay their employees for work standards even without tips.

Also, my understanding (based on something I watched, but can't remember where this is) is that in some cultures tips are considered an insult. As to suggest your product wasn't good enough, he's a gift to raise it to the standard it needs to be at. Many different thought patterns in many different cultures.

Minimum 20%. Working people are what makes this country great.
Trippin · F
@carpediem Amen...💪
Driver2 · M
At least 15% lately a little more since the people who are working deserve it.
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
Usually 15-20%.
delivery $5
a restaurant 20%, more if it's the private dining room and the service is excellent
$5 for valet, parking more if he carries my packages out to the car or loads them for me
Carazaa · F
20% if they knock n the door, but UPS truck or mail man wont take tips.
America is broken. Tipping should not be necessary.
zerofuks2give · 41-45, M
@Sinful absolutely right. But either way the customer is going to pay
Jill1990 · 31-35, F
I use 20% if it’s a larger bill, but with a $5 minimum.
cercisflowertoo · 51-55, F
20 %
I tip delivery drivers always
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
5 bucks delivery. 15-20% meal
SW-User
@mondayschild2 Is this a common rule where you're from? I'm guessing you're from the US.
@SW-User US and it's not really a rule but it is showing appreciation.

@geoam1 Nice. Seems the 10% rule had gone out the window.
Stopmakingsense · 56-60, F
Zero. I don't feel better because of demeaning traditional restaurants.
zerofuks2give · 41-45, M
Since covid 20%+
zerofuks2give · 41-45, M
@SW-User Restaurant workers have become scarce here lately so I’m rewarding the ones that do want to work
SW-User
@zerofuks2give Very thoughtful of you. Figured people would tip less now that work and money are scarce.
zerofuks2give · 41-45, M
@SW-User nah, nothing much has changed for us thankfully
SW-User
15-20%, don't do delivery
SW-User
@SW-User That quite generous
SW-User
@SW-User I was originally taught 15%, but when I became a waiter I appreciated the work that needs done and adjusted accordingly
LadyJ · F
I don't tip 🙄😏
SW-User
@LadyJ Not even a word of wisdom or two?
LadyJ · F
@SW-User i know nothing and have nothing 😁
SW-User
@LadyJ Nonsense.

@Stereoguy I wouldn't either if I had a convertible Merc. I'd take every opportunity to drive top down.😉
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
15-20% of the meal
SW-User
I was gonna insert a pun about the word "tip" but...
SW-User
@SW-User Yes no sexual innuendos thanks.
