Do you have any long(er) term goals?
Remember that long(er) term relates to the human lifetime being a 'long time' meaning up to 100 years being generous.
I'm 57 now. I bought a house by myself when I was 55, and I have a 30 yr term mortgage originally paid off by the time I'm 85. I don't want to work past 70 (or earlier) if I can help it.
So goals for my long(er) term future are to retire and pay off the house (via the traditional way or a short-cut route) so I can enjoy the years I have left watching my children grow up, have their own families, and get set to take their place in the cycle of life once I become unalive. A post-life goal is to leave my children with a financial boost to help them on their journeys through their own lives after I'm gone. That's why I'm so reluctant to ever try and have romantic relationships again as a woman will just try to steal my house and financial resources leaving me (and my kids) with nothing.
Simple and realistic goals.
Everyone will have different goals depending on a bunch of factors.
