Thoughts Regarding 'White Privilge'

It's a load of crap. [I never was one to beat around the bush.]

It's yet another trick the left is playing on minorities. Look, even if you they could convince white people of this new myth, does that improve the station of minorities?

We ALL have the privilege of life. What we do with it is all about the individual. You can choose to apply yourself in school, you can choose to take part in extra curricular activities, you can choose to listen to your parents, follow the rules of the house, find a job that interests you, be the best the employer has ever had, get promoted, marry and THEN have children, work hard to keep the family intact and succeed.

THOSE things result in happiness and success. Don't do those things and life will be more difficult for you - what ever your skin color might be.

I might as well bring up that the left has had major involvement in tripping up the steps to success for minorities - for decades.

Minority families are far more likely to be fatherless for example. I know marriage itself is considered more disposable than ever, but those that get caught in the web of government assistance are forced to get rid of Dad and nothing short of a miracle ever gets them out from under the governments rules that won't let 'em out.

Taking whites down a notch won't do a thing to improve your own life. It's an old trick played by losers everywhere and it never works. Losers remain losers.

So, succeed the old fashioned way, that has worked time and time again for thousands of years - work hard, play it straight, be honorable and gather your own privilege as you go.

Good luck!

Where was my white privilege when I was poor as a child? Where was my privilege when I was making $12 an hour as an aircraft mechanic but the boss billed my time at $175 an hour? Where was my privilege when I was gone for weeks and months at a time for work? There is no white privilege. I have never gotten anything I didn't work for.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Roadsterrider Because that's not what white privelege is about.
Roadsterrider · 56-60, M
@Kwek00 It is if the assumption is that I have succeeded because I am white, that I didn't have to work and sacrifice to be where I am.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Roadsterrider It's not meant to be used on an individual scale. The idea is that the group of people that have a white skin, have more opportunities in society because of biasses in the majority of the country. That's the idea, it's about a group not about an individual case.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Kwek00
have more opportunities in society because of biasses in the majority of the country.

That's the myth they've taught you!
As long as you believe that crap - don't expect anything to get better.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Budwick If we go look into statistics, that myth pops up a lot.

Like 3 months ago, there was a annonymous survey amongst employers in FlaNders. 19% of them admitted that they don't even let people with a name that sounds foreign to a job interview. 😅 If you look at the housingmarket, people with a foreign name often don't get invited to watch the house that is up for rent. Like these things are being polled all the time, calling this a "myth" is pretty ridiculous in 2020.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Kwek00 How many employers are there in Fladers?
And, where the fuck is Fladers?
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Budwick I missed the N, but it's the dutch speaking part of Belgium

I'm doing something right now, but if you want me to look up sources... I will later on. But is it really worth it, cause the chances of your reading annything hasn't really increased over the years.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Kwek00 I looked up Fladers - I ASSUMED you did NOT misspell it.
I don't about prejudice in Belgium.
Why did you move there?
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Budwick Move here?

I grown up in the country overe here.

We have prejudice and we have a radical-right-wing poppulist party since the late 70s. And we have a bit of a fascist past too. Like most Western European countries btw. You can't really expect the generation born in the 40s and 50s and socialised in the the periode up till now to not have biasses lingering in their mindset. In 1958, the world expo was held in Brussels and Africans from our colonies were imported to be "exhibitionist" over there. That's like 1958... It's not that amazing that the children of those generations inherrited a racist mindset, they just got socialised in these conditions.

To get something like racism out of a poppulations mindset, that takes years. And it can only work if people are willing to reflect on their behavior and their consequences. Thinking by scrapping racist things out of the law, that "racism" suddenly is abolished from the mindset, is a pipedream.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Kwek00 As I said, it takes personal dedication, and I wrapped up the recipe with 'rinse and repeat' = meaning your children and theirs will need to do it all over again for themselves. You're right, it takes a long time. Minority poverty in the USA is generations old. Democrats saw to that. It will take a lot of hard work over a long time to correct it. Stripping me of my fantasy 'white privilege', will do nothing to help, any more than school bussing or affirmative action.

You want to succeed?
Great - do it.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
Generational poverty is the fault of society and the government.@Budwick
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Budwick If part of that poverty is due to inherent racist tendencies in the poppulation. Then that poverty has nothing to do with onces own actions OR merrits. Part of this group of people, just get set back, soley because of bias.

What conversations like this are for, is tryign to figure out where this bias excist, what you can do about it, so that more people have a more equal opportunity. And then, when opportunities are equal, then we can have a fair conversation about personal merrit Budwick. Otherwise, all this "individual" stuff, is just bullshit. If 2 individuals have to run a race, and one needs to run a whole lot more to get to the finish then the other, then the game is rigged, and we can't soley talk about personal merrits.
Budwick · 70-79, M

That may be an issue in Belgium - again, I don't know Belgium.
In America, that's not the case. Racism is not the 'systemic' problem the media and BLM say it is.

Now, that might change if they don't knock it off!
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Budwick
In America, that's not the case. Racism is not the 'systemic' problem the media and BLM say it is.

When a percentage of people refuse to offer a group of people a job, just because they are born to a group that they are biased about. The this isn't part of "the system" Budwick, but it is part of the worldvieuw these people are socialised in. If this problem is big enough, if enough people do it, you automatically get friction.

But what ever, if you want to feel good and believe that the USA is free of racial problems on a scale that is big enough to actually affect the group that suffers the consequence. You just go right ahead. But don't come bitching and moaning when people get frustrated enough over time to take the streets. Because this is a continuous thing over there, you should try and put all the protests concerning this toppic on a timeline and wonder if all these people are just making shit up or take your time and figure out that maybe this extremely positive idea about the group you identify with, might not be that extremely positive.
Budwick · 70-79, M

The Civil Rights Protection Act makes it unlawful to do so.
Therifleman · 31-35, M
@Budwick still happens some companies use creative ways to get round offering jobs and I am not saying it happens to just minorities sadly I have heard of it happening to others including my mate whose white and a triple amputee.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Budwick Making a law that makes certain actions unlawafull, doesn't make what is unlawfull magically dissapear.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Kwek00 That's true!
The Magically Disappear Department is down the hall, on the left, next to AOC's office.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Budwick AOC had nothing to do with this conversation, but we had to bring her in annyway. So we can make a joke at her expense and feel good about ourselves. Cause that's what it's all about. Because we are the good guys... GOOOOOOO TEAM. you stupid fuck.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Kwek00
GOOOOOOO TEAM. you stupid fuck.

OK - Stupid Fuck is right across the hall from AOC, the sign says Joe Biden.
