Why did my friend tell me that he never dreams

I thought everyone dreams when they go to sleep, maybe not every night, but still you dream sometimes.

Remembering one's dream requires timing that you awaken at a specific time during REM sleep. This isn't a typical pattern....so remembering dreams (of which there are many in a night) is far more rare than not remembering.
