So, where should I move to?

Next year I'm selling my house, packing up and moving. I have two states I'm thinking of moving to. Washington and Pennsylvania. Well, maybe three... also thinking maybe Wisconson.

Now, for those of you living in any of those states, what cities do you recommend? Why do you recommend them? Small towns and larger cities are both being considered.

You get what you pay for. I live in one of the states that would not be listed among the 'best' for retirees. Because 'best' means 'we won't touch your SS.'

Frankly, if I'm pulling down 50K in retirement, I can afford to pay income tax on my Social Security. Honestly, I'd be okay with some of us who have plenty giving up our Social Security. Maybe I'll feel differently when my turn comes. But give me quality of living over tax savings any day.

Of the three you mention, I'd caution you on Wisconsin, if you're tired of the South. Scooter Walker is racing that state straight into Louisiana & Mississippi.
