Hypothetical Question: What would happen if someday Americans elected a deranged, vengeful maniac to be President of the United States?

I feel as if I am either experiencing a nightmare, or that this is a bad made for TV movie. The sad thing, is that there seems to be no end to the incredibly inane things the republican party seems to be capable of doing.
