War Room: A Larry Harris Game (2nd Edition)

[big]We need a bigger table... 😓[/big]

I bought this monster on kickstarter before covid... but now in 2023, it will finally hit the table. All the attempts to try and get 6 people around the table to play this game have failed before. Mainly because it's just a huge investment of time. But not this weekend!

This weekend, me and 5 other inglorious bastards will try to change history. We all get command of an Allie or an Axis' power in 1942. Operation Barbarossa is in full swing. And the U.S.A. just joined the war after Japans' attack on Pearl Harbor. It's a race against time for the Axis... while the Allies are trying to hold on so that the U.S.A. can build up it's huge war economy. Oil is the key!!!
[...] the most precious substance in the universe is the spice Melange…The spice extends life… expands consciousness… gives them the ability to fold space…that is, travel to any part of the universe without moving.”/i]

- F. Herbert, Dune
'cause Dune @Fishy

Germany and Italy are trying to keep and expand the oil rich territories in the middle east and make a rush towards the north to stop the Soviet Union from outproducing them in the later game. While fearing the U.K. that is lurking over the channel. They might build up enough forces to attempt an invasion on German held territory.

Imperial Japan has the most units from the start and are is in a fairly cowzy position, aiming their troops at Australia and figuring out if it's smart to attack the Soviet Union or China. While carefully monitoring the sleeping giant that they just woke up in the West.

The British Common Wealth is under heavy stress, being attacked from all sides. Trying to hold on to their territories in the middle east, Oceanië, Africa and India. Right now armies have pilled up in front Egypt that looks like it's about to fall.

The United States of America are pretty safe right now. They just started up their war economy. The Axis need to rush and beat their allies as quickly as possible before the United States' industry crushes them all.

China (played by the same player that plays the U.S.A.) ... they are just trying to stay alive and might start eyeballing some regions with resources. Trying to make a long march to India to help out the British or help the Soviet Union if Japan decided to invade. This is the only faction, that only has access to ground troops, and are forbidden to create a navy and/or an airforce. It's also the only faction that doesn't care about oil.

The Soviet Union is trying to keep the fascist alliance at bay at their Europen borders. While fearing Japan in the east. Right now they still have some treaties that seem to protect them. Do they abandon their eastern border to help with the fight in Europe? Who's to say. 🤷‍♂️

Tomorrow at high noon... we'll start shooting and bombing the shit out of another and we'll finally figure out who wins World War 2 in 2023.

This is how the table looks like after almost 3 hours of build up:

The material looks great. And I love the click system to stack up your troops. It creates a way better overview then just piling on little minis' on a game board.

It's a 6 player game (you can also play it with less... there are diffrent scenarios for less players), and they calculate around one hour per player. But considering everyone is new to this... I'm guessing this could be a 9-11 hour game tomorrow.

So yeah... one more night of sleep... and then we'll roll some dice!!!!!
