right after WW2 dad came home from being a POW and because of an illness he contracted there, the Army sent him to another city (Indianapolis) instead of his hometown (Grand Rapids), to be treated. Mom wanted to enlist, but was talked out of it so instead volunteered for the local USO and was helping at a charity dance for recovering soldiers. She spotted him across the room as he saw her as well..the rest is history..
