This girl I know asked, "Why are a lot of people sad about his death when they don't even know him personally? I don't wanna sound horrible but that's just ridiculous. Why grieve or be sad over a stranger's death? People die everyday. It's life. Get over it! Stop posting about Kobe and his daughter already. It annoys the hell outta me that people are posting about it. The celebrities or people that met him, that makes more sense. I have sympathy for his family and the other families but I am not sad about his death. I'm not going to grieve for a stranger. Don't get pissed when I'm enjoying my hobbies."

I've seen that take around too. Do you know who it's usually coming from? Insecure people who lack the ability to appreciate excellence because it reminds them of their own shortcomings.

it is sad. I see her point though. when a celebrity dies I'm usually not that upset about it unless if it's really tragic and unexpected bacuase like she said I don't know them personally so I'm not as affected by it. but if other people are sad about it that s ok and understandable.
