Support unions.

MrAverage1965 · 61-69, M
I am a life long union member but of a union that worked in partnership with the employer.
The union recognised that change was inevitable and did not try to fight it.
Instead they made sure that staff were taken care of if the inevitable happened with good redundancy or relocation packages.
Sadly some of the public sector unions seem to fight change every step of the way, creating conflict which is never good at the negotiating table.

And this is the supposed leftwing socialist media, too!

I support both...unions and big buisness.
1. Unions in contract negotiations need to make reasonable requests.2. Big buisness should open their books up to 10 years previous and make offers according to profits. Both just need to figure out how both...union employees and big buisness....make money!

Like paid sick leave ffs
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@HannahSky It's absurd that railroad workers don't get paid sick leave. They have to use their vacation leave to cover time-off due to illness. Where I work, we accumulate both sick and vacation leave during the course of our employment. It ought to be that way everywhere.

@Rutterman Same here. I can't believe people don't automatically accrue this time off, paid. It's not ok.
@Rutterman I absolutely agree with you. It would be even more effective to guarantee employees sick leave without financial loss or having to compensate with their vacation. That's how it is where I live. An employee can be sick for up to 6 weeks with full pay and without having to sacrifice vacation time.

I agree one hundred percent.

If businesses did the right thing, they would be no reason for unions. But they don't.
