@Elizabeth28 My Dad had an 81 Toronado. I loved the long hood. The front end of the car arrived at your destination 5 minutes before you did.

In the mid 70's I think Oldsmobile was selling more cars than Ford....and Olds was just one brand for GM.

I said I was going to get a Cutlass Supreme for many years. I bought a cutlass Calais in 92 and it was the worst car I ever owned. I bought it slightly used when I returned from Germany (Army) . It was 1 problem after another The 4 cylinder Hi -Tec engine was anything but hi tech. But......I think it may have been a flood car, but I couldn't prove it. I lost the computer module in the engine, the engine threw a rod, battery boiled over when the alternator went out......omg.......I sold it 6 months after I bought it and got a Saturn sedan because everyone was falling over themselves to get one. there was nothing special about it.

@DallasCowboysFan that a 1978 to 1980 cutlass supreme not toro

@Elizabeth28 I know, but the Cutlass I posted is the one I wanted for so long . I still think the exterior of the Cutlass and theToronado have nice lines. The exterior is still attractive to me. But the suspension, reliability, mileage, and interior would have to be upgraded.

I like the older cars like the Mustangs, Trans Ams, Camaros, Oldsmobiles etc. but I would never use one as a daily driver. Modern cars are infinitely safer, more efficient and ergonomic.

@Elizabeth28 I did. It was a Cutlass but not the supreme model I was so fond of. It was pure crap. No car could be as bad as that car and still be as popular as they were. Unless it was a Chevy Chevette or a Pinto. I only had it 6 months.

I replaced the tires, the muffler, the brakes, changed the oil and plugs, rebuilt the engine when it threw a rod, replaced the alternator, battery , and the computer module. It had a bad habit of draining the battery if it sat for more than 24 hours. In spite of the fact that the electrical system was practically brand new. THEN.....I was driving at night and ran over some trash in the road and I busted the cv joint boot. The plastic boot with the grease. OMG. I wondered why the universe hated me so much. I crawled under the car, manually packed the boot with grease, wrapped a plastic trash bag around it, and duct taped the crap out of it.

I drove to a Saturn dealership in Charleston S.C., stopped a mile from the dealer and ripped off the tape and the plastic bag. Test drove a car and had an estimate for my car.

I agreed to buy the Saturn sedan, and left to get a car loan from the Credit Union. The salesman met me halfway at night a couple of days later ( The dealer was about an hour away ) to trade cars and sign the paperwork. I left the car running so I would not have to worry about it not starting for the salesman. ........lol

I drove away and it began to mist. I had to pull over and go thru the owner's manual to figure out how to cut on the windshield wipers. I drove back to my unit with a smile on my face, I have no idea what happened to the car, but If I had won the lottery, and married the woman of my dreams on the same day I could not have been any happier.

It had to have been a flood car. Hurrican Hugo had gone thru the area about 6 months prior.
I could not prove it. But no car could havee been as unreliable as that one.
@DallasCowboysFan thanks for sharing ..
