Do you ever call “No hetero” before complementing someone of the opposite sex?

Just so there’s no confusion?
Like “No hetero dude, but you have amazing hair.”
i preface all my compliments with “full hetero” so there’s no confusion

Every time, just to be sure

Of course not, the no homo and no hetero isn't necessary. You should be able to give someone a compliment whenever you have something nice to say without someone assuming you have the hots for them.

I remember in highschool I gave compliments pretty regularly when I had something nice to say about someone. There was this one girl though who I thought was a very good person so I'd tell whenever she did something nice. But apparently she thought I had the hots for her because she rejected me without me even being interested or asking in the first place. And I was never able to convince her that I wasn't into her and just thought she was a good person.

@VTDestiny The reason men say, "no homo" is because they know how they behave towards women they are attracted to. It's hard to expect a gay man to respect your boundaries if you're not willing to respect women's boundaries. Therefore, they have to go out of their way, whether gay or straight, to project an image that they are not attracted to other guys, lest they be perceived as a potential predator.

@ShadowSister I guess that makes sense, but I still don't think it's fair to be perceived that way just because of a simple compliment

Well.. nah but maybe people should because mf's be getting the wrong idea sometimes 😂

"I can tell she wants me dawg she just said I have nice calves"
Why would I do that??? I'm not gay...

@HootyTheNightOwl But a compliment doesn’t necessarily equate flirting.
@Straylight Exactly... which is why I don't feel the need to use "No homo/no hetero" - same when I tell my friends that I love them... I don't include "as a friend" to the end because I know that I can love people without wanting a romantic relationship with them.

I think that most people here know that I have my man anyway, and I'm not interested in anything other than friendship with them.

I tell women they are beautiful, hot, gorgeous, pretty, etc all the time. I think society treats women differently in that regard because if a man were to tell his friend he was handsome, society would say he’s being gay.
