One thing I don't understand is why do some people think that some people just want humanity to end?

I feel almost ashamed saying that I have a homophobic family member who told me that the west is suddenly open and accepting towards LGBT in the recent years because they want humanity to end 🤔 I tried talking some sense into him and saying that it's simply the way of thinking evolves according to the current times (like on general throughout history) and that his argument is just invalid and stupid but that changed nothing..

In moments like those I just feel defeated tbh.. but it's all really just sad how people justify hate with dumb theories.

With respect to your family member (because I’ve seen that pov expressed here), it’s perhaps a matter of not understanding how LGBT people live in the West—many do have children. Some had traditional families before they came out, others use AI or surrogates to have biological kids. And many adopt. So the situation isn’t quite what they think it is. And considering the overpopulation in many parts of the world, human beings aren’t in any danger of going extinct anytime soon.

@bijouxbroussard Actually he does agree that adopting a kid is more noble than raising a lot of children in poverty and we agree on that part and he's smart but then on certain topics like this he says these weird things.
It's really almost impossible for the most intelligent species on earth to just go extinct and if it happened we'd all turn into nothing anyway we'd not be around to grieve.
