Paging Mr. Mayoff. Paging Mr. Jock Mayoff

I remember back when CB radios were a thing a bunch of us got on them and messed with people.
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@Adrift Yes very late 60s and early 70s. They were all over the place. Me and a bunch of roommates operated out of our apartment. We also had them in our cars. The apartment was known as Rangoon Base.

Not in the recent past, but certainly a couple of decades ago. Those were both scary and fun. 😂 Nowadays, I sometimes wonder if we’ve lost the capacity to have fun with such silly, simple little acts. Perhaps we’ve just become too serious.
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@Explorer you've nailed it. Society has launched the capacity. Where comedians used to be laughed at. Now everything that's a joke becomes offensive. Everybody so damn on edge touchy feely
Explorer · 46-50, M
@Gibbon Exactly. Somewhere along the way, we forgot that not every silly thing needs to be taken seriously. A little harmless foolishness used to be part of the fun. 😊
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@Explorer yeah, it happened during our time, too, when things like the slapstick of the Three Stooges became, oh, that's not funny. That's terribly violent. I mean, give me a break, folks.
Cartoons like Daffy Duck getting run over by a steamroller getting up and walking around flat as a piece of paper. Oh that one's appalling too. You're teaching our kids to stand in front of steamrollers.
I'm sorry. I question the mentality of the people who make these judgments more than I question the things they're judging themselves. The I'm sorry in front of that is not an apology. It's just sorry as hell. We have to even think about that stupidity.

We called the bowling alley and asked if they had 10 lb. Balls they said yes. Bet they are hard to walk with. Call the grocery store and ask them to page Mike Hunt.
I remember me and my friends making prank calls, but I don't remember what we said.

@MsSwan I remember the dumb one about calling a local drug store and asking, do you have Prince Albert in a can?

"Yes."

Well, you'd better let him out
before he suffocate

We were like 12 years old doing that.

I called random people kids in my class parent's claming their son was bullying me while pretending to be another student. I had the principal sit my class down and talk to us about bullying is not cool
