The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Real Time with Bill Maher.

@JoyfulSilence oh my gosh Colbert is hilarious
@JoyfulSilence Maher is too much of a flipflopper, claiming to be against leftist ideology and constantly spouting against it, while simutaneously endorsing leftist politicians.

I think he makes sense most of the time.

I do not understand his vaccine hesitancy, though.
@JoyfulSilence It's a hit or miss for Maher, he's never consistent.

He is not there for votes, but for laughs. That requires irony and high contrast. But he is tapping into something. I like his atheism, and old-school liberalism. I think wokism has gone too far, too.
@JoyfulSilence Yet he still endorses the woke politicians, that is the very definition of flipflopper.

Well, I would vote for woke people over MAGA people.
@JoyfulSilence You should vote on the actual issues, not straight downline ideology.

Nobody is going to satisfy me fully. So I have to find somebody who I agree with the most. I am almost always anti-Republican, and not really that much pro-Democrat, so usually my vote is geared toward keeping the Republicans out. Voting for independents or third parties won't work, so I go with the Democrats.

Yes, there are agreeable Republicans, and awful Democrats, but those in charge of the Republican party, and the majority of their supporters, seem to be disagreeable. The majority of Democratic leaders and followers are more agreeable. So I choose Democrats.

I rarely vote in primaries, and sometimes I choose the more fringe Democrat. But they never win.
@JoyfulSilence I'm third party Socialist because I despise the corrupt duopoly, both the dems and repubs bow down to corrupt corporatism, they get their rank and file voters fighting with each other while they do their smoke and mirror back room deals. Left wing, right wing, it's still the same bird.

I am a capitalist, since I believe hard work and merit should be paid the most, and people should be able to keep their wealth, minus fair taxes. Yet I realize not all can afford basic services, so I support high taxes to subsidize the poor, especially for health care and education.

But not socialism. Everybody needs to work hard and should be rewarded for it. And if one works hard yet still falls short, they should at least get help to survive. And no poor child should be denied good food, health care and education, and no poor retiree should go without good food and healthcare.

I am fortunate to have responsible parents who were not poor, so had a decent childhood. Yet I also studied hard and am smart, so I excelled in school (public school). My good grades attracted grant money from my college. My parents paid a lot, and I had loans. Yet graduate school was free to me because I taught. I got a good government job. I paid off my loans and am saving well for retirement. I pay a lot of taxes.
@JoyfulSilence True Socialism believes that everyone should pull their own weight and despises freeloaders, that everyone should have a piece of the profit at the companies they work for as they're the ones actually working, that there is far too much pay disparity between the execs who actually do nothing, and employees. I also believe that we should close ALL foreign bases, why should we be defending countries that hate the US, drop out of NATO and kick out the UN, and cut 25% of defense spending, and closing worthless alphabet agencies that don't do anything but hinder, redirecting that money to programs that better benefit the tax payers.
@JoyfulSilence As for public school, I DESPISE how children have to pay for lunches, schools get at minimum $9,000 per child, their lunches shouldn't cost them a dime, and pay teachers for actually teaching real world subjects, stop indoctrinating them with bullshit, bring back shop, art, music, recess, and home ec., too many schools dropped them to push testing to compete for federal tax dollars.

@JoyfulSilence I like Maher, he is a little erratic, but smart, and so are the guests
