No sh*t, Sherlock?!

I've always found it odd when people say this. I see women on dating apps include this on their profiles all the time. "I love to laugh!" Okay, so your point is...

You're a normal human being?

You're mentally stable?

Saying "I love to laugh" is like saying "I breathe oxygen." I literally have never met a single person who doesn't love to laugh. We all have a different sense of humor and find some things funny and some things not, but who doesn't love to laugh? Is there anyone in the world who hates laughing and prefers crying?

Sometimes I want to reply to these people and say, "Wow, that's so crazy! I'd much rather be depressed and cry all the time."

Well maybe.. but the whole point of any dating site is that you are in a way selling yourself, advertising your wares.. and I guess their thinking was that they want to show they are a fun person, not serious, not a misery.. They want to sound appealing.

I get that it's a pet peeve but try to go easy on them.. everyone there is trying to do their best.

@Adaydreambeliever I mean, I get the whole trying to sell yourself thing, but I try to sell myself by saying what's unique about me. My profile says I sing in a barbershop quartet, I love to swing dance, I'm saving my virginity for marriage...you know, things that make me different than other guys.

Trying to sell yourself by saying "I love to laugh" is kind of like trying to sell a car by saying, "It has a steering wheel!" That's the bare minimum, not a perk!

@RopinTexan well that's your thinking for sure.. but think of it this way... not every lady IS fun loving and able to laugh at herself and the world.. Wouldn't you rather know she was someone who is able to laugh?
