It’s funny, I remember once years ago during an interview he said that on the Godfather, he, Talia Shire, & Morgana King were the only "full Italians" in the family. John Cazale was half, Robert DeNiro is a quarter. And neither Marlon Brando nor James Caan were Italian
at all.

@geoam1 James Caan told interviewer James Lipton that he was awarded "Italian of The Year" in New York—twice. 😄

@bijouxbroussard DeNiro is only 1/4? I did not know that.
Normally, none of this would raise an eyebrow with me. But DeNiro directed a movie called A Bronx Tale, about the Italian neighborhood that he grew up in, which was where I lived until I was 8. He recreated what that neighborhood looked like in the 1950's . During the opening shots, when the boy is narrating and the camera is giving a tour of the neighborhood, I was on the edge of my seat.
Everyone else in the theater, here in the Midwest, was just sitting back eating their popcorn. lol

@DrWatson DeNiro directed it, but it was based on a play written by Chazz Palminteri (who plays Sonny in the movie). The story is his autobiography, even down to the boy’s name. He was born Calogero Lorenzo "Chazz" Palminteri . Chazz’s family is from Sicily.

@bijouxbroussard I did not know that either! Next time I want to know something about Robert DeNiro, I know who to ask!

@DrWatson A Bronx Tale is one of my favorite movies. It was sad that Lillo Brancato got into trouble later, but it seems like he’s overcoming his problems. He’s sober and acting again.

@DrWatson @bijouxbroussard That is correct. Chazz Palminteri also recently done a one man play from the story, not sure if it's still going.
