I had a pre-op exam last week and when the nurse asked the routine 'are you or could you be pregnant?' and I laughed and responded "ha, no there's probably mothballs up in there" and the nurse, not born in the US looked at me just a wee moment with horror and confusion... I'm positive she didn't get my joke and thought I was serious at first. Then I felt a little bad but mostly more amused with myself and my own joke.
