It’s Funny
by:Rob Paquin
It’s funny all the thoughts I have
It’s funny what they make me think
It’s funny how time can pass
it’s funnier if I drink
It’s funny how things play out
As all the years roll past us
It’s funny when apologies
Are what the world is after
It’s funny how we make our beds
And then lie down inside them
It’s funny when we pretend
We were the ones beside them
It’s funny as the evening rains
Can sometimes bring us comfort
It’s funny when we face the blame’s
As if we’re in the front court
It’s funny the way a thing gets phrased
Or the way it can’t be said
It’s funny when the truth is split
Between the living and the dead
It’s funny or perhaps it isn’t
How obscure my rhymes might seem
I find it funny every time
When no one knows what they mean
And therein lies the funny part
That nobody ever thinks about
So funny that I’m laughing now
Inside these lands of doubt
Funny is only funny
When you’re in on the joke
And no one else can laugh at it
If that joke is never spoke
