Do you have many rats in your area. I doubt you will find any bigger than this ugly scouse rat

Mostly around July to September we spot the odd one in the garden as they are after the fruit from the trees. My bf puts down traps. The rest of the year we don't see them.

@meggie Not in my area, I live near a wood.
Get snakes though, mainly grass snakes. But also adders. Last year I had a corn snake, poor thing, in my pond.

@SW-User the previous summer my bf got bitten by an adder in the garden. We have woods nearby and a cricket field one side.

@meggie So what happened, did he swell up, or go to A and E.

@SW-User two puncture marks from the fangs and circular bruising from the jaws. No A & E as he didn't realise at the time as he was clearing brambles and thought it was thorns. But the doctor next door said it was when the bruising came out

@meggie useful to have a doctor next door. I have a retired paediatrician at the bottom of my garden. I would not fancy one of her clinics, anyhow she is terrified of snakes.

A lucky escape I think, it looked very nasty.
