I was watching Forensic Files this guy got convicted and got 50 years in prison

The judge asked “do you have anything to say” the convicted man said “I’ve been in jail for 1 1/2 years during the trial will I get credit for 1 1/2 years” the judge said “it wouldn’t make any difference you won’t finish out your sentence”
At the time of the conviction he was 69 years old.
