@SW-User It all depends on your tone of voice. Be soft spoken & don't make sudden movements, they'll love you

@DropTopDig Yes, true. I sometimes try to speak to them in their own language. My dog and I used to have singing games which would seem ridiculous to other people, but she loved it and begged for it. Cats and dogs make better conversationalists than most people I think.

@SW-User I agree. Animals aren't stupid, they know when you're not feeling well & when you're down on yourself.

@DropTopDig Not all dogs are that attuned. Mine definitely wasn't particularly sensitive to either me or my ex. I had to teach her to stop barking and begging me to chase her around when I had a migraine. She was funny though in her own obstinate way.

@DropTopDig My dog used to sulk sometimes which was hysterically funny.
