This is a timely question. I was just thinking of this topic the other day. I went to Windsylph's account. I didn't know her personally, yet she was dear to many here. Others included thechurchlady, mrmoose, sparkles (a name similar to that), furryface, the man from Australia (heavens, I cannot remember his name), and my dear Stan from Alabama.. So many kind people who touched our hearts. Though we may not remember all of their names, they are remembered and beloved still.
Maybe, I once had a friend here from Australia. We'd spend many hours talking, just getting on with life and humour in calls. The last I knew, she was stressed trying to see her children who were on the other side of a wildfire in Australia. She talked of going to see them, that nothing would stop her, and I worried about her then because I knew her need to see them.
@LadyBronte Yes it is. I remember her smile, her voice, and just her. I know she was struggling also with so many things, yet so brilliant and beautiful, and sometimes you question also with a place like this, if they just left for their own health.
@TryingtoLava There is another person here who was first generation SW….l remember when we stayed up and joined the prayer vigil for WindSylph…and we were waiting for the end of EP together. I always assumed EP would at least exist in an archive forever….l was wrong 😑
But Meowsolini wrote hundreds of stories on EP as Wunderlust…about her travels…meeting with her English boyfriend…an encounter with a gondola driver in Venice…and Venice was as she described when l got there later ❤
An entire community destroyed…when someone took three or four hard drives out of the mainframe and crushed them 😳
@AntisocialTroll I do remember them, and believe I spoke to NigelDoes every now and again. It is possible I did know VickyPrice on EP, but it's been such a long time I don't remember all the profile names now.
@LadyBronte Vicky was one of the huge characters on EP, very lovely lady who posted a lot to amuse others, I'm sure you will have known her from Q&A at least.
@Jenny1234 well I can only assume, since she hasn't been here since December last year. She used to be on here quite frequently and she was battling cancer.
Yes but I can’t remember her name. Her abusive husband killed her. Her family was aware of her account here. They did close her account after her death.
@LadyBronte I agree. From what I remember (and I may have gotten the precise details wrong) the family was going through a financial crisis. Additionally, he was an abuser. He killed her, their daughter, and then himself.
@onrealityofdreams I read it as he killed her, then himself in front of the young daughter, which is all kinds of messed up. Either way, nothing about it was good. Domestic violence is horrific.
I suspect that Queen Of Zaun died by suicide ten months ago; can't be sure. She wrote about it frequently though; and her last message sounds pretty final.
@ElwoodBlues That is a heartbreaking post - and yes, it seemed she had her mind made up. I hadn’t seen it until you posted it. Some people have such a hard life. I'm sorry she experienced that to the point she felt suicide was her best option.
How do you know Windsylph passed away? Her account hasn't been used for seven years but that doesn't necessarily mean she is dead. Maybe she just left the site and never returned. It happens.
@KingKripple Her dearest friend sent many of us her obituary. Also, she shared her cancer journey with us and told us when she stopped treatments and the peace she had in the final days of her life. There will never be another like her. She was a beautiful light for so many of us.
@Miram Thanks. I remember Wraithorn. He posted quite often. I assumed he had left, I didn't realize he had passed away. I don't know that I remember the other two.
@Midlifemale It isn’t a chat room. But even if it was, for many of us here, we have formed strong friendships to the point that real world family and friends will reach out to us when their loved one passes. It’s an anonymous site for those who wish to be anonymous to certain people. We don’t just chat. We become family. We become a support system.
@jshm2 Remembering friends hurts no one, and it can actually help some to know their friends are not forgotten. It is not my problem what sick and derranged individuals want to read into this or any other question or post on this site.
@Ferise1 People who were close friends with that person here, usually knows. Most of the rest of us don't know unless it was mentioned via a post at the time, since these are account profile names.
