I am grateful for my cousin
She's more like a sister to me, but she is a true friend. She is the type of friend that will tell you like it is, she won't sugarcoat or blow smoke up your ass if she thinks you are on the wrong path or train of thought. She does this kindly and gentle. We all need someone like that in our lives who doesn't just tell us what we want to hear, but tells us what we need to hear. I don't have much family or friends but with her I know without a shadow of a doubt she has my best interest at heart. I know I am lucky for that even if she calls me out on my stuff. I need that, I have a tendency to always want to see the best and not the worst in people or situations and sometimes I do have rose colored glasses on. She brought something up on a recent phone conversation and I can't stop thinking about it because I know what she said was right. I am in a tough situation right now, and I have to stop just hoping for the best. I need to start making some really tough decisions and take some actions that are potentially going to be really difficult.
Any ways I am just grateful to have someone in my life that helps keep me grounded as I can be a bit of a hopeless optimist when I should be a realist.
