Anyone know why it’s so hard to make friends?

Saw an interesting youtube documentary on it. For most of human history, you had to interact with others to aquire just about everything, it was just a part of how the world worked. After the internet went mainstream, you could aquire anyrhing you could ever want without interacting with another human. Less exposure to people = less friends. For the first time ever, we are having to explain in layman's terms how to meet people.
