I have to go to bed now
Been up long enough, it's actually strenuous to keep the eyes open and keep concentrated. but I just got to my favorite choral moment in WR Mysteries of the Organism, where there's a lavish figure skating spectacle, and the 2 Yugoslavian ladies are with their beaus, but the redhead is struck with the lead skater guy, and as they strike up a conversation in the back part of the building where all the costumes are, there such a cute song being sung, oh if I only knew where on YouTube the full music of that could be, and if there's more music like that, if I should be calling it something besides commie choral singing, it really touches my inner being.
With that kind of music covered I can sleep well, but oh yeah there's a super song sung by the skater guy towards the end, I won't spoil it, but its a little bizarre. Too much of the film is a pleasure centered thing, and it can be overdone, and some of the stuff is like those x-rated shows that would be on TV after midnight, where taboo topics are discussed in a frank and open way .... one moment that made me holler with laughter this time was during some kind of therapy exercise a lady was going through lying on a bed, and she's got a towel clutched tightly in her hands and she's yelling out "GIVE IT TO ME" 3x then "IT'S MINE" Jackie Curtis is in here too, a Warhol star, when you first see "her" you get a taste of authentic 70s radio, with a couple ads, and the beginning of CSNY's Teach Your Children. I LOVE time capsule details like that, which is so needed when there's already enough of entirely fabricated sight and sound in created narratives.
But now I must get ready for sleep, and it's only 1:30am!! What a weakling I am. Later, and when i'm awake and its dark I must keep enjoying my collection, I am open to the possibility of pausing Marxist book purchases if film viewing is successful for Blu-ray releases I've been meaning to get ..... like upgrades for all of Tarkovsky, world class contemplative stuff right there, my copies of Mirror, and Stalker are rotten, so shoddy, I need the pros at Criterion at the helm there. Have a good rest of the weekend!!
