Is it customary to ask someone to be your friend or does it happen naturally?

I find whenever I ask someone to be my friend I get one of two responses.
It’s either “What’s your name again? I’m reporting you to HR!”
Or
“Dude, back away from my car or I’m calling the cops!”

Does this happen to you?

Becoming friends should be an organic process - if not the people aren't meant to be your friends.

@butterflybaby75 By organic, you mean they shouldn’t be on antibiotics or growth hormones if they are my friend.
Do you take steroids?

@Ghostinthemachine No by organic I mean if people are going to become your friends or become other people's friend it should be natural and not forced. I don't take any drugs.
