Traveling. My father told me about his and Mom’s last trip to Paris, a few years ago. They were in the lobby of the hotel and heard a man on the phone, furious because he couldn’t find any English speakers to help him. He was apparently not realizing that his getting loud was discouraging the French staff who spoke some English from getting involved. He was practically in tears.
Mom got up, walked over to the man, and gently asked if she could help. The man told her what he was trying to do, so she took the phone and translated for him. Pop said, "like much, your mother could make many difficult things easier." He said that when the man left, happy, the hotel staff went over and thanked Mom.
And while they were out, the man left a gift of flowers as a thank you.
