I hadn’t seen her in awhile, but while running errands she offered me a ride and invited me to her home. She’s originally from Kent and we kid each other. She was caught up because we speak on the phone from time to time, but in her home she took my coat and said she’d "put the kettle on".
I chuckled, which she caught, and she said, "what would be something typically American ? A Coke, a shooting ?” I said, "You’ve been here 35 years, and haven’t been shot once ! C’mon, now !” "True," She laughed, "not even once !"
She had Earl Grey, which was nice, and some scones she’d gotten from the market, and it was a really fun visit. She’s binge-watching Blue Bloods, which I said is "the NYPD, romanticized". She laughed. "Midsomer’s not true to life, either !”
@bijouxbroussard People who actually lived the real thing know. Our DB had every single character in that show represented......and a few others that would have made decent spin off shows all by themselves.
