My really close friend is having a hard time moving on from a breakup

Idk what to say I feel like I'm of no help at all. He comes to me for solace and yet I fail to offer any. I'm so bad with words. I truly feel his pain as someone going through a very difficult rejection after a prior spark myself. But I just don't know what to say to make him feel better.

The solace is being there for him, and listening when he needs to talk about it. It's in him knowing that you care that he is hurting.

@Piper this
Thats the only thing you can do.
No one can take his pain
But he can process his pain at least with someone

From my personal experience, I was able to get over the breakup by first letting go. I let go of all hope of getting back together and making it work. I then found something I always wanted to do but never found time to to do. It took some time, but I was able to get over it.

Just be there for him. You don't need to talk or solve his problems. You can't.
Just you being there will help him feel he's not alone.
So just be you.

You don't have to say anything. All you have to do is listen. A hug now and then is probably nice, too.
Providing him company is still going to make him feel better than being alone so don't stress

Unfortunately there’s nothing you can say, just be there to listen.

Just listen to him, ask him what he needs, maybe you can help. Maybe he just wants company.
